New chapter – Jawairia’s story

Jawairia joined the Better Working Futures service at Bradford, as she required support and guidance when searching for work in her new home city. Here's what Jawairia had to say about the support she received from Better Working Futures:

“When I first started the programme, I had zero confidence, but my Employment Adviser, Sarah, has helped me build up my confidence so much. I had just relocated from London to Bradford, with my three young children and I found it hard to settle in, as I had no friends or family close by. I was unemployed and I felt anxious, scared and alone with no support, and was desperate to get back into work to support my children.

“Sarah gave me the warmest welcome onto the programme, she made me feel safe and helped me with the transition into settling into a new city. I found Sarah to be very passionate about supporting people back into work and it really showed during our appointments, she was attentive and remembered details about my life and we built a good working relationship.

“With me being new to the city, Sarah would help me by planning out my journey for all interviews. She showed me which buses and bus stops to take and even printed me a map which was useful. Sarah supported me with vouchers for my uniform which was a great help, to ensure I wasn’t financially out of pocket on my transition back into work.

“Sarah and the team at Better Working Futures showed interest and wanted me to succeed, they supported me with my job search and interview preparation. Sarah taught me how to complete application forms, which helped me secure my new role as a Learning Support Assistant at a local school.

“I am forever grateful for Sarah’s support and the whole team at Bradford. I would never have secured my new role at the school without my Employment Adviser’s support. I am glad I was referred to this programme, as I have gained confidence to now stand on my own two feet to raise my three children!”
