Feeling valued – Kim’s story
Kim was very nervous when she joined the Better Working Futures service, as felt that she was not employable due to her learning difficulties. Kim felt her low confidence was holding her back from applying for the jobs that she really wanted.
Kim’s Employment Adviser, Rebecca, was able to support her with updating her CV to a high standard and providing guidance on how to effectively search for jobs.
As part of our Better Working Futures service, we offer lots of in-house courses to help our participants feel more confident and become more employable.
Kim took advantage of many of these courses, Effective Job Searching, CV and Cover letters, Confidence Boosting and Stress Awareness Courses which has given her the personal skills to adjust herself back into working life. Throughout her time on Better Working Futures, Kim showed pure determination, focusing on her end goal of being financially independent and back in employment.
Rebecca told us: “Kim didn’t give up, she was adamant that she would find work and with her determination and help from the team, she successfully secured a part time role with a disability confident employer!
“Kim has expressed how she feels valued by her employer, and this has given her the confidence that she needs to complete her duties in the workplace.
